Advanced Open Water CourseContinue your SCUBA adventure with the Advanced Open Water Course!  You will learn new skills, knowledge and gain experience under the supervision and guidance of your Instructor.  Explore the various specialties, see which ones interest you, which you enjoy the most and expand your diving confidence and limits.

Advanced Open Water CourseThe Advanced Open Water Course is the best way to further your diving education and experience, and you don't need to be an "Advanced" diver to enroll in the course!  It is designed to be taken immediately after your entry level Open Water certification, allowing you to expand your diving experience and knowledge safely under the supervision of a certified instructor.  As in your Open Water Certification course, your instructor will introduce new topics and skills, relate any important information, conduct dive briefings/debriefings, and ensure the safety of the class.

This course will build on the skills and knowledge you have already learned by introducing new skills and knowledge specific to the environments we will be diving in.  This course includes more practical diving experience and less classroom time, making it an interactive and fun way to expand your skill set.  You and your instructor will complete five dives introducing you to:

  • Underwater Navigation - help to improve your underwater awareness and navigation skills
  • Deep Water Diving - gain experience planning, organizing and executing deeper dives (typically in the 60-100ft range)
  • Three more Adventure Dives of your choice

You and your instructor will choose the three additional Adventure Dives based on your interests.  These can include components such as underwater photography, altitude, boat, drift (current), drysuit, night, search & recovery, and diver propulsion vehicles!  Some of these Adventure Dives include special equipment, such as lights, cameras, lift bags, dry suits, underwater scooters, and more!  You will learn more about how to use this equipment as part of your Adventure Dive planning and briefings.

Some of the skills that you will come away with include:

  • Deep diving procedures, skills, planning, and physiological effects
  • More ways to navigate with your compass
  • Using kick-cycles, landmarks, time and underwater features to navigate
  • How to better use your dive computer, dive tables, wheel, or eRDP to plan your dives
  • And much more, based on your interests and which Adventure Dives you choose
